The Mediterranean Orchestra
The Mediterranean Orchestra was founded in 2016 as an initiative of the Mediterranean Tourism Foundation and brings together master musicians from across the Mediterranean region under the artistic and musical direction of international conductor Maestro Bruno Santori.
The aim of the Mediterranean Orchestra is that to promote Mediterranean identity across the World through music, which also as an international language will ultimately help to bridge differences which exist amongst our people. The repertoire of the Mediterranean Orchestra is very versatile ranging from classic, pop, jazz to sacred music. Indeed, the structure of the orchestra is remarkably flexible in this respect and under the permanent leadership of Maestro Santori is capable of expanding from concert repertoire to projects involving a large symphony orchestra augmented by extra players from other established orchestras thus engaging in partnership projects. In this way, even as a large body, the Mediterranean Orchestra is able to retain the characteristic sound that Maestro Santori honed with them since its inception, as well as its esprit, linking the generation of excellent, experienced players with the greatly talented and perfectly technically prepared younger players The Mediterranean Orchestra is proudly an associate partner of the Mediterranean Conference Centre in Valletta and the orchestra which supports the Radio Italia Live Concerts in Italy.
Andrew Agius Muscat is the President of the orchestra and Paolo Mandelli is the CEO.

Mediterranean Tourism Foundation
The Mediterranean Tourism Foundation (MTF) is an independent and impartial international organisation for public-private cooperation. 8 years ago, the Foundation started as an initiative of the Malta Hotels and Restaurants Association (MHRA), however eventually established itself as an independent entity with a regional outreach supported by various international stakeholders. The Foundation aims to increase the potential of sustainable tourism growth across the Mediterranean by transforming the region into an area of peace, cooperation and prosperity through regional cooperation and tangible projects including commercial initiatives.
MTF advocates for and works on innovative projects which demonstrate that differences in cultures are not a detriment or a danger but rather a source of richness. Given that many times the Mediterranean hits the international headlines for the wrong reasons – terrorism, poverty, economic crises, conflict and amongst other things immigrants drowning in our sea – we focus our efforts on being the positive voice in the Mediterranean. We sincerely believe that beyond rhetoric we can position and drive tourism as a vehicle for peace, stability and prosperity amongst the Mediterranean people because indeed tourism is what unites the differences of the cultures pertaining to the countries in the region.
The Foundation organizes the Mediterranean Tourism Forum, which is a yearly gathering that brings together leaders of society and other stakeholders holding an interest in Mediterranean tourism and peace. Indeed, representatives, top executives, leaders of international organisations and relevant non-governmental organisations, the most prominent cultural, societal and thought leaders and disruptive voices come together at the beginning of each year with the aim to define priorities and shape Mediterranean tourism agendas. The Forum takes the shape of various specialized masterclasses and discussion arenas culminating in a plenary session followed in the evening by the Mediterranean Tourism Gala Awards ceremony. Public inclusion is achieved through broad international media participation, televised sessions and webcasts, and through the Foundation’s followers on social media. The latest Forum, which was held on 15th February 2019, attracted over 1600 participants from 35 countries coming from all the continents of the world. This year the Princess of Jordan, Her Royal Highness Dana Firas was guest of honor. In the coming months the MTF will be cloned to establish the West Africa Tourism Foundation led by the King of the Ashanti (Ghana), so the project is growing at an international level too.
The call of solidarity amongst the people of the Mediterranean is our inspiration and the MTF Board of Governors have made it their mission to concretely realise it through tourism related initiatives. MTF Governors include leading business people, artists, academics and politicians from all over the Mediterranean region, with the aim to give the concept of tourism a wide interpretation in the delivery of the MTF objectives. For more information about the Foundation and list of the respectable board of Governors and ambassadors please refer to www.medtourismfoundation.com.
